Cool and trendy Solar car Launched by Cambridge University Students

Very cool and trendy car got launched by the students of Cambridge University which speeds up at 60mph which uses the power as a hairdryer. Guess this car gonna be a great defy for all Solar cars which is gruelling 3,000 km race across the Australian Outback and this cool car codenamed as Bethany which will be mostly completed by this summer. This solar car will be getting power from the solar energy which is captured by 6m² and covers high-efficiency silicon cells. Nevertheless this car will be of ultra efficient electric vehicle where designers state that they could provide a model for further forms of green transportation.

Anthony who is the manager of the student group in Cambridge University eco racing (CUER) stated that when the whole auto industry is compelled to look at low-carbon their vehicle is the one which is gonna exhibit/show potential of energy-efficient electric vehicle technologies. Usage of UK’s energy in transportation presently is roughly accounts to 35% and hence this clearly shows that there will be great impact in climate change.

In order to reduce the energy necessities they have incorporated the usage of computer imitation software, the car aerodynamics, rolling resistance, weight and electrical efficiency have all been optimized. This car will also be fitted in with an energy-efficient hub motor which acts as a control system in order to provide battery management and an electric braking system which produces energy.

The creators have estimated that it will require less power than a normal petrol fuelled vehicle as it weighs just 170kgs! Hopefully this trendy car gets completed by June and further it’ll be tested extensively before shipping to Australia for October’s World Solar Challenge race form Darwin to Adelaide.

In creation of this cool vehicle nearly 75 students were entailed across the university and this is a task which obviously requires months of training! And these 75 students who were entailed in designing this car were supported by big network of corporate sponsors, academics and advisors who’re specialists. However drivers will have to just steer the car and stay alert during the race as it will be fitted with high cruise control system which automatically adjusts the speed in accordance to the road conditions and weather forecasts.

GM and Segway working on new balancing two-wheeler

The Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility Project (P.U.M.A. for short) will seek to develop a self balancing two-wheeled vehicle capable of reaching speeds of 35 mph – well above the Segway's 12 mph top speed -- for 35 miles.

Instead of the more common single track of a motorcycle, this electric vehicle will borrow the side-by-side arrangement popularized on the original Segway Personal Transporter. A lithium battery will store enough charge to allow the vehicle to travel for up to 35 miles on a single charge. Another interesting feature is the expected ability for each machine to communicate with vehicles around it, reducing the risk of accidents and regulating the flow of traffic.

Cost isn't yet set, but initial projections would place the total cost of ownership for the two-passenger autonomous vehicle at about a quarter of the price of a traditional automobile. The P.U.M.A. project will make its official debut at the New York Auto Show this week.

Porsche Finds Fortune From Unlikely Outsourcing

Outsourcing to less-expensive places like India, China, Taiwan and Eastern Europe became routine for many American and Western European companies over the past decade. But what’s Porsche doing in Finland?

Since 1997, Porsche, the German sports car manufacturer, has headed north to this tongue-twister of a Finnish town instead of east, a move that helps explain why it is still making money even as so many automakers are tapping government aid to weather the worst industry downturn in a generation.
