2010 Volkswagen New Classic Compact

The Volkswagen New Compact Coupe (NCC) comes with fuel utilization 4.2 l/100 km and CO2 emissions 98 g/km! Implausible with top speed of 227 km/h (141 mph) and the short 8.6 seconds it needs for the classic sprint to 100 km/h (0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds). These values were made technically viable by a high-tech alliance: a TSI engine (gasoline powered with 110 kW / 150 PS) that is as fuel efficient as it is sporty, an electric motor (20 kW / 27 PS) and a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). Direct injection, turbo charging and intercooler generate a power of 110 kW / 150 PS from just 1.4 liter of engine displacement.

The TSI of the NCC - which of course is also prepared with ESP - transfers a hefty 220 Newton-meter (177 ft-lb) of torque to the front wheels at low engine speeds. An electric motor is integrated between the TSI and the efficient 7-speed automatic (DSG = Direct Shift Gearbox); it can be used for pure electric emissions-free driving, or it can support the TSI with aggressive torque. The electric motor develops a power of 20 kW / 27 PS.

The Volkswagen New Compact Coupe is a four-seater with exceptional long touring comfort and generous occupant space on sport seats that are upholstered in a light-colored ("Berry White") leather. Also designed in this color are the lower cockpit area, parts of the center console and the door trim panels. By contrast, all other surfaces (except accents and controls), including the leather-trimmed steering wheel, are styled in the darker "Grigio Quartz" color.

Subaru Impreza STI R205 Special Performance Version

Based on the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, the R205 recovered the sheer driving performance it shares by former special performance models, such as the "S203" and the "S204", developed by STI. The R205 is the top performance model of the WRX STI. The Subaru Impreza STI R205 features new and exclusive equipment and makes full use of especially designed features and performance parts of the "WRX STI spec C" model, the sporty performance model launched 2009. The "R" of R205 stands for "Road Sport".

In accumulation, STI carried out verification tests of selected performance parts of the R205 through the involvement of the 2009 Nurburgring 24-hour race with an Impreza WRX STI. Making full use of this precious race-track experience at Nurburgring - in which any road condition is condensed - STI successfully completed the model in order to offer sheer excitement and unique driving feeling as a distinctive "Road Sport Model".

The R205 delivers an increased 235kW (320PS) of maximum output, and 431N.m (44.0kg.m) by adopting the exclusively designed turbocharger with ball bearings for the turbine axle bearing, specially tuned ECU (Engine Control Unit), and the sport muffler with lowered back pressure exhaust. SI-DRIVE (SUBARU Intelligent Drive) is also available to neatly suit driving style in any driving situation at driver's command.

The front under spoiler, newly developed rear under spoiler, and the black rear spoiler improve aerodynamics. Exclusively designed 18-inch alloy wheels, specially colored front grille and side STI garnish accentuate its uniqueness.

On sale in Japan starting today, the Impreza R205 is priced from 4,510,000 Yen (without tax). The planned production is limited to 400 units.

2010 Flex Doors Vauxhall Meriva

2010 Vauxhall Meriva model, which will be disclosed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010, is the first Vauxhall to feature Flex Doors, showcased in 2008 Meriva design concept. Flex Doors are rear-hinged back doors which swing open towards the back of the car at an angle of nearly 90 degrees, vastly improving the ease with which occupants enter and leave the cabin. The Vauxhall Meriva features six turbocharged units and power outputs from 75 to 140PS - benefits from an average fuel consumption/CO2 reduction of 15 per cent, or -25g/km across the range. A high mpg/low CO2 eco FLEX model will also be available.
